Important Reminders When Shopping at Going-Out-Of-Business Sales

Call it a cliche but a woman having an idea of going to a sale is like having a kid being asked to go to toy store? or a candy store (this one?s more like it). Honestly, there is something in shopping the women get so crazy about. ?Shopping is fun.? And that?s an understatement. Regular shopping is heaven for most women, but if we are talking about ?everything must go? shopping, it?s more than that. However, there are certain rules that you must remember whenever you going to this kind of shopping. Because, going-out-of-business sales are quite different from regular sales, make sure that you arm yourself with the right information and not just your credit cards.

Don?t buy something you already have. This one is obvious, but when you see the tag slashing 70% off its regular price, it is so hard to resist. Still, the main point is you don?t need it. When you buy something you don?t need for, say $30, you are still wasting $30. Forget the 70% off. When you don?t need it, you don?t need it. Period.

In a similar manner, set foot in the store if you actually need something. It is easy to get swept up in the excitement of going-out-of-business sales but don?t make any purchase you will later regret.

All sales are final. Many items sold in going-out-of-business sales do not have any return policy. So even if you were able to bought it for a very reasonable price, if it is useless, it is just a waste of money. Before buying something, make sure that you check the company?s return policy. You don?t want to buy a digital camera today, found it defective, return tomorrow and realize that the store is already closed.

Everything is mixed up. One reason why a store is in going-out-of-business sales is because it cannot sell enough items to keep the company afloat. In other words, stocks, merchandise or items that are being on sale have been there for quite a while. You may be distracted by its lower price, but the reality is, you can get the same items in different stores for much less. It pays, therefore, not to get caught by the fuzz the word ?sale? creates. However, there are also many good items that are being sold in the same store. Just make sure that you know how to differential which is which.

Check for warranties. If you are thinking of buying that dream HDTV or that laptop computer in going-out-of-business sales, make sure that it is covered by manufacturer?s warranty. Third-party warranties are dangerous.

Use your credit card. You are better protected when you use your credit card on going-out-of-business sales. But do not max it out. Credit cards are best only if you want to buy an item today but your cash will only be available next week. Remember that when the bill arrives, you should have the money to pay for it.

For some, shopping can sometimes become a matter of life and death. The movie Confessions of a Shopaholic presented it quite clearly. But in reality, you still have to be a wise shopper, even if the prices of the items in going-out-of-business sales are ridiculously low.
