Predictably named iPavement puts hotspots into the sidewalk
We know what it's like to be in a foreign country without a mobile internet connection. Although there are domestic options making it easier to connect our devices abroad, Spanish company iPavement wants to help confused tourists (and their confused devices) by seamlessly integrating hotspots into tiles -- which are seamlessly integrated into the ground. It's unclear whether users will have open access to the entire world wide web, or only controlled info about the city, but the service is at least free to use. The 24kg (53lb) tiles are slightly larger than normal, installed a maximum of 20 meters (66 feet) from one another and only work at temperatures between 10 - 45 degrees Celsius (14 - 113 degrees Fahrenheit). Touristy cloud apps like maps, coupons, and traffic updates in various languages are also a part of the deal, and you would look like less of a tourist without that huge guide to Madrid. Just lose the fanny pack and you'll be set.

Nintendo aims to flog 18 million 3DS, up to 10.5 million home consoles this fiscal year
All eyes are on Nintendo, now that it has revealed losses of $460 million. Buried in all of the financial paperwork were the revelations that it sells the 3DS at a loss, its plans for digital distribution and its projected sales figures for this year. It aims to flog 18.5 million 3DS handhelds and 10.5 million Wii consoles by March 31st 2013. But wait, what about the Wii U? That figure actually encompasses both old and new hardware, so it is either hoping for a sharp fall in Wii sales or a tough opening for the new baby. It's a bold pair of figures that relies upon how well New Super Mario Bros 2, Animal Crossing and the new hardware capture the public's imagination in a time when people are tightening their belts (especially if they've been using Wii Fit).

Time Warner Cable is preparing for TWC TV IPTV streaming on Roku boxes
Time Warner Cable's TWC TV streaming TV service has already arrived on iOS and Android 4.0, so what's next? According to information we've received, the next stop should be connected TV platforms, starting with the popular Roku media streaming boxes. We already got a glimpse of TWC TV on an HDTV during CES 2012 when it was being demonstrated at the Panasonic and Samsung booths, and were told at the time that it could launch on "multiple platforms" later this year. While company personnel are currently being briefed on compatibility with Roku the launch could still be some time off, as previous preparations for rollouts like streaming to PCs came months ahead. We contacted reps for the company about the plan and received a "no comment" in response, so there's nothing in the way of official word just yet. Either way, if all you want to do is ditch the bulky cable box for a diminutive hockey puck, it seems like 2012 could finally be the year.

Friendster reborn as a gaming site, wishes Facebook cared
Friendster's as good as dead to the western world (it hasn't really crossed our radar since 2005), but Forbes reports that the site is still huge in Southeast Asia -- though not for the reasons you might think. It was the original social network when in launched in 2002, but its acquisition by e-payment provider MOL Global in 2009 led to its reincarnation as a top online gaming destination for countries such as India, Indonesia and Malaysia. The new Friendster just officially emerged from beta as a game-centric site, and the remaining vestiges of its social networking past -- you can still add friends, after all -- are gamified with reward points. Moreover, owner MOL Global has added e-payments to the mix, letting users buy Friendster Coins to purchase virtual goods. Given predictions that the Asian gaming community will exceed 1 billion by 2016, the site's future is looking rosier than ever. That might lessen the sting of being plum blown out of the social networking game by the big dogs.

Why Kim Kardashian And Kanye West Are 'Smart' For Keeping Quiet
'They know their biggest asset is looking gorgeous and shutting up,' columnist Rob Shuter tells MTV News.

They've been uncharacteristically tight-lipped about their rumored romance, but they are just about the only ones. It seems all anyone can talk about is the blossoming relationship between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, who have already been anointed with their very own celebrity couple name: Kimye.
The two were spotted all over New York City this weekend, getting dinner with the rest of the Kardashian clan at Spice Market, enjoying another meal thrown by luxury brand Audemars Piguet at Catch in the city's Meatpacking District and hitting the opening of Scott Disick's new Japanese restaurant Ryu.
Despite all the hand-holding and dinner parties, both Kim and Kanye have kept quiet regarding their relationship, which isn't surprising to Naughty But Nice celebrity columnist and TV host Rob Shuter, who believes they are well aware of how they are handling their big reveal as a couple.
"Kim and Kanye are so smart. They realize a picture is worth a thousand words. If they actually speak, we might be less interested in these two," Shuter told MTV News. "They know their biggest asset is looking gorgeous and shutting up."
Maggie Coughlan from Gilt City agreed, adding that their behavior in public tells the whole story.
"I think the fact that they've been parading their love all over New York City is a statement enough," she said, "and they're so high profile, it's very tongue-in-cheek, like, 'Hey, we can go out, we can hold hands, we can make appearances together, we don't need to say anything, we're that famous.' "
Celebuzz editor Amber James thinks there might be a little more to it, opining that Kim K. may be taking things a little slower this time around to avoid repeating the missteps that led to her down the aisle too quickly, resulting in her brief and controversial marriage to basketball star Kris Humphries. "She doesn't want to make any missteps this time around," James said.
